Subway Douche of the Week

Comments

This afternoon I was attempting to head home and boarded a #7 train at Times Square (the first station). The conductor closed the doors and a douchebag put his arm in the door in my car so that he would force the conductor to open the doors and the douche could board the train. No go – the conductor refused to re-open the doors, just doing the quick open/close which resulted in the door slamming on the mans arm. The man continued to push his arm in further and further. After 9 minutes of this game of conductor vs. douche, a passenger got up, went to the door with the douche and started to push his arm out. Next thing I see is the douche now pushing both arms through the door to fight the man. Still the conductor hasn’t opened the door.

The entire incident took 12 minutes and the train motorman began to hit the horn over and over. I guess the douche didn’t realize that the #7 is the best subway line in the system and that waiting a mere 4 minutes another train would leave. Instead the douche backed up the system a decent bit.

Here’s a photo of the douche’s arm in the far end door.

you never know. maybe he had reasons.

maybe his wife was home pregnant lying in a pool of her broken water?

maybe he was late for a raid and was afraid he'd lose dkp if he didn't get on that train?

maybe he had a hot date with a fat 34 year old (who he thought was really 18).

maybe he's a celtics fan and wants to get a nice spot at the bar to watch the pistons lose.

    or...maybe he's just a giant douchebag.

The douche was unable to enter - it looked like the passenger was able to push his hands out - the douche then ran to the next door to attempt entry but failed.

How did this story end?? Was the douche able to get on or not!!?

True, after all that time he should have let him in. Subway fist fights are fun for everybody except arm guy.

had door guy opened the door, the arm guy would have easily been in a fist fight with the guy who went to push him out - that would have been great video :)

The problem is that it's a slippery slope; how many arm-stickers in a row do you open the door for before the train is significantly held up?

I'd argue that both arm guy and door guy in this case are douchebags. Sticking the arm in is more often than not going to get you inside. Can't fault arm guy much for the attempt; he gave it a shot. His mistake was not giving up when he realized that door-guy was gonna be a hardass. Door-guy, on the other hand, is a douchebag for going on a power trip and holding up the train for 10 minutes just to try to teach one guy a lesson.

If I was going to fault one or the other here though I'd be leaning toward door guy. He's the one whose job it is to be concerned about the rest of the passengers. Pretty obvious he took it upon himself to teach arm guy a lesson and disregarded everyone else on the train.

i agree - it was a battle - door guy said "i got the button, ha!"

Not sure if i agree with your analysis there. The door guy could have just let him on it really doesn't cost him that much and the same argument you used for arm guy goes for door guy.
