No Parking! Only For Setting Down Passengers

Comments

Here’s one from my London archive trip… Here we see that the police have setup a no parking zone in what appears to be a "forecourt". However you can still "set down" railway passengers. I assume that means you can pick them up from inside the car and then carry them to the train and then set them down onto the train when it arrives. Got other ideas what this means? Leave ‘em in the comments.

it’s a polite English way of saying “if you leave your car unattended it will be blown up by the bomb squad and you will have to pay for the clean up.”
